SKILLS

MARKETING, SOCIAL MEDIA AND THE WEB

In my most recent role at Oxford Garden and Shopping Village, I Managed the social media channels, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Snapchat. Creating marketing campaigns, be-spoke artwork, photography and short videos. I doubled the reach of Instagram with no budget.

Prior to this position I was a marketing assistant for Bunkers Hill Garden centre. Writing for their social media accounts and building a target audience. Taking photographs of stock and staff to illustrate the ethos of the business.
On the opening day of John Lewis’s new branch in Oxford City, I coordinated with the London branch by taking photos and making boomerangs of the staff and customers to share on the John Lewis official website.
I have many years’ experience being a principal web designer with various companies in oxford as well as running my own web design business for 4 years, employing two staff. I built websites for small business’s such as local shops, hoteliers, tourist actions, doctors, travel agents and many more. From simple websites to E-commerce, generating new sales leads and increasing profits, while working to a set budget.
While at Bunkers Hill I set up stock and processed orders on eBay, which generated most of their sales.
I can hand code using XML, HTML5 and CSS and create B-spoke websites in Dreamweaver or WordPress.
I am IT trainer and have trained clientele in the use of practical web design, and basic Photoshop, using my own training script. I am currently writing a book on WordPress for beginners.
I have experience of working with spreadsheets, databases and EPOS, as well as using a wide range of IT software packages including the Microsoft packages Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and SharePoint.
In my own time, I have extended my knowledge by building a new phone app and writing a program for Alexa.
I have experience of various marketing tasks, such as traditional adverts in newspapers and local radio.
I am a digital and traditional artist and have designed a wide range of images for the internet and books. I have organised art exhibitions in a shop window in George Street, Oxford City Library, Saἲd business school and the Town Hall, managing all the marketing and promotion.

COMMUNICATION
I have a clear speaking English accent and have an excellent telephone manner. I am an easy going approachable person. My people loving skills mean that I go out of my way to be helpful. I have attended a range of communication courses from welcome to tourism to counselling. I can demonstrate good listening and problem-solving skills, with the ability to listen to, direct or solve customer queries. I have experience of answer customer complaints or enquires over the phone, via e mail and social media.

ADMIN AND EPOS
I can add information to the EPOS system, edit and create bar-codes for new products and problem solve. Carry out database work.
I have processed paperwork for external suppliers and internal staff. I am proficient in many office duties such as, mail merge, sending out invoices and arranging debt collection. Getting the accounts ready to send to the accountant. Looking after internal communications and diary. Organizing any deliveries and ordering supplies. Receiving and sending out mail. Arranging company extras such as company cars and any hotels for business trips that may be needed.

RESEARCH ABILITY

I have undertaken research in many capacities. Whilst employed when I have researched competitor companies and undertook academic research as part of my earlier university studies for my degree. As a children’s author I research information for my own books. Also sought and obtained grants for my customers from Welsh Development.

SALES, CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CASH HANDLING

Whilst running my own business I dealt with customers from the point of cold calling right through to maintaining a high level of customer service which was built on trust.
I have experience f working with tills, taking card payment and handling cash.
In a previous role for John Lewis I welcomed customers and provided information by offering my own personal experience, building customer confidence in the John Lewis brand.
In this and previous roles I have demonstrated timely efficient, and considerate customer service with the ability to respond to requests and concerns to a high standard.

BEING A THOUGHT LEADER
I have the motivation to encourage other people. I have published five books, have two audio books. I was the volunteer coordinator for NaNoWriMo in Oxfordshire 2014 which involved arranging over 20 local events and keeping the social media sites up for the group. During my term in charge the membership grew in popularity from 700 to over 2000.
I was a host of my own indie show and a guest speaker on radio shows such as the BBC in the UK and indie shows in the USA talking about a wide range of topics.
I am a writer/photographer for a local community paper in Oxford.
After the death of my dog I wrote, recorded and published, ‘RELAX a guided meditation to aid sleep after the loss of a beloved pet.’ I have been contacted by many people since around the world who have found this helpful via social media.
In 2012 I made an app for a museum trail in the Pitt Rivers and was given permission to stick QR codes on the museum cases for a steampunk night. The event, which was my idea and sold out within the first few days, was organized in conjunction with the staff at the museum. I also staffed the event with volunteers, who I trained to give a trail which I created using museums objects that were where featured in my first sci fi book Paradox Child. 
In 2011 I was the Project Manager for the Button Project – Art aimed at Combating Mental Health issues. It included arranging workshops and exhibiting at the Cowley Road Carnival. It was successful in working towards removing the stigma and promoting a healthy attitude to mental health and positively supporting those with mental health issues within the local community. For this project I had to manage a budget and use my team leading skills to organize staff, volunteers, arrange venues, hire/drive a large van on many occasions.
In my last role I fundraised for the company’s two local charities. Organising a sponsored run with work colleagues. Promoting the event by making artwork, creating/managing a just giving page/blog and setting up a text to give account.

Hobbies

I am a strong believer in recycling and much art and craft projects are made using recycled materials. I use hand tools, power tools and a sewing machine.
I like to keep fit and have completed many personal fitness challenges, such as cycling the whole of the UK, a half marathon and a half triathlon. I run a productive allotment and grow all my food organically.
